 Today we had an oral comprehension activity. We listened to a document called "A Strange Law in Kennesaw." We hesitated a bit, but here is what we understood : - there's a law requiring every household ( foyer ) to have a gun - the city didn't experience a crime wave, but they had a decrease ( une baisse ) of crime. - people were interviewed on the streets, and they all seem to like the law. - Kennesaw is located in Georgia. - the law isn't enforced ( on ne vérifie pas qu'elle est respectée ).

Last time we had debates. The topic dealt with ( was about ) guns in school. Here are a few points and observations : It's the school responsability for us to feel safe. students could take the gun and use it against other students.  Not the responsability of the school, it is the respnsability of the police. would you agree if your teachers had a gun ? What if the teacher was a terrorist ? How exactly do you want the school to protect children ? If schools protect students, why should the teacher have a gun ? The 2nd amendment protects this right Just because you want to take away gun doesn't mean it will decrease crime less guns is less crime We should ban guns everywhere, they're too dangerous.

 Snatch On Monday we talked about Snatch, the movie we watched at home.  We realized that it was a comedy that was also violent and dark. Multiple genres were presented in this story (boxing movie, caper movie, vengeance movie). We also noticed how guns were described in Snatch. The action takes place in Great Britain, in London, were anti gun laws are very strict (more so than in France for example). Before he goes to London, Franky has to get rid of his gun, and he's given the name of a criminal who can get him a firearm. Likewise, Tommy is obsessed with his "protection," and feels he needs a gun to defend himself against Brick Top. All he'll get is a revolver that doesn't work.
