 Snatch

On Monday we talked about Snatch, the movie we watched at home.  We realized that it was a comedy that was also violent and dark. Multiple genres were presented in this story (boxing movie, caper movie, vengeance movie).

We also noticed how guns were described in Snatch. The action takes place in Great Britain, in London, were anti gun laws are very strict (more so than in France for example). Before he goes to London, Franky has to get rid of his gun, and he's given the name of a criminal who can get him a firearm. Likewise, Tommy is obsessed with his "protection," and feels he needs a gun to defend himself against Brick Top. All he'll get is a revolver that doesn't work. Sol and Vince try to get guns for the caper, but the rifle they get is not appropriate. Eventually, they'll choose replicas.

In the end, stupid guns that don't work are enough : with their replicas, Sol and Vince scare Avi, and Tommy saves Turkish's life with his non-functioning gun.

Points teachers can kill students  it's the school resonsablity for us to feel safe.  students could take the gun and use it against other sutdents.  it's better for the teachers gun license  Not the responsability of the school, it is the respnsability of the police.  yes but the teacher can not say if he has a gun, nobody knows if he has a gun     Questions  would you agree if your teachers had a gun ? Gun Control 1 gr A

 Today we studied a passage from a 1992 movie entitled (=called) Falling Down .  We stopped the video several times ( plusieurs fois ) and wondered : What's going to happen next ? A man wants breakfast in a fast food restaurant, but it's too late. He doesn't ask the manager why there is no breakfast on the menu, but he just asks the manager if it's possible to have a breakfast. He didn't say it, but we feel that he thinks, "I didn't eat/haven't eaten this morning, I'm hungry." He also checks his watch, the time limit is just a few minutes off. The manager starts being angry and disrespectful, and we believed the customer would make a scene. After a while, the customer takes out a bag. What is in the bag ? (money / guns to menace/threaten the manager / a costume ?)
